Printer - Toshiba - Unable to connect to server

Overview

When a Toshiba printer is booted up, the network card does not connect before the machine attempts to contact the server. The pop-up message “Unable to connect to server. Please contact the administrator.” Will not go away until the network is able to communicate and the yellow button is pressed.

Symptoms

  • Printer has a white screen and shows the error “Unable to connect to server. Please contact the administrator.”
  • Users are unable to scan / log in with badge

Steps for resolution

Step 1 - Close the pop-up error message

1. Press the yellow button located on the right side of the touch panel.

Important: Please note, Sometimes it can take up to 15 minutes for the Toshiba device to fully boot up and connect to the network. If 15 minutes has passed and you are unable to get past the error page, press the "Request Printer Service" button located on the right side of this page to submit a ticket to the ITS Help Desk.

Step 2 - Log in with ID card or Username/Password

1. Use your badge or your username/password to log into the printer.

Additional Information

Expected Result

  • Error message should go away and the Papercut log in screen should appear
  • Users should be able to log into the printer by scanning their ID cards or typing in username and password

Escalate If

  • More than 15 minutes has passed and pressing the yellow button does not remove the error message.
