Microsoft Authenticator - Adding an authentication method to your account.

Below are the following steps for adding an authentication method to the Microsoft Authenticator. Our example will display all of the steps for Microsoft Authenticator but the same steps are used for adding phone numbers for SMS.

Step 1

Sign in to the Security info page of your work or school account at mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info

Step 2

Select Add sign-in method.

Step 3

Select the authentication method you would like to add. In our example, we will select Microsoft Authenticator. 

If you are wanting to add a cellular number, please select one of the phone options.

Step 4

Select Next to display a QR code.

Step 5

Open Authenticator on your phone and select the plus icon and select Add account.

Step 6

Select Work or school account then tap Scan a QR Code.

• If you can't use your camera to scan a QR Code, click Can't scan the image on your PC and tap Enter code manually on your mobile.
• This feature is not available to users in China. Those steps can be found HERE.
• You can add a cellular device using the same method. 
• Currently receiving a call for a number does not function, however, SMS will.
